Global Investment Research - Off-cycle Internship in Tokyo

About GIR
Global Investment Research (GIR) drives commercial transactions through thought-leading research. From macroeconomic forecasts to individual stock analysis, our team develops tools and insights to help shape investment strategies for clients and the firm. Our analysts work on client-focused research in big data that enters markets around the world to identify game-changing insights.

Responsibilities
The assignment duration will be for 1 year,
3-5 days per week (duration and frequency
negotiable depending on your school
schedule). The intern will support the Japan
Economics team in Tokyo.

• Support the Japan Economics Team in
conducting economic research, analyzing
economic data, monitoring and reporting on
relevant macroeconomics indicators, market
trends and events
• Work with economists to handle requests for
information from clients and other Goldman
Sachs divisions
• Assist in preparing presentations and
publications
• Maintaining and updating financial and
macro market models, proprietary indexes,
etc.

Job description
Within small teams, you’ll quickly play an important role on a variety of demanding assignments. You may:

・analyse and develop solutions to clients’ needs
・monitor markets and formulate trade ideas
・perform various analyses on fundamental and technical dat
・attend client meetings or calls with traders, salespeople, structurers and research colleagues
・participate in pricing products
・help out with daily tasks such as trade reporting or P&L analysis
・assist with managing risk of the team’s trading books.

Purpose of the role
To participate in the day-to-day activities of the markets division providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.

Accountabilities
・Execution of small research projects, research to support strategic decision making, preparation of presentations and reports to communicate research findings, collaboration with senior management to implement research findings for the global markets division.
・Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
・Participation in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
・Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for the global markets division.
・Management of client relationships and provision of customer service support to clients and customers, under steadily decreasing supervision, responding to questions about products and services, processing of transactions.
・Management of the development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support in decision making in the global markets division.

Job description
Real responsibility, right away
You’ll start with five weeks of intensive training, after which, you’ll join our team, building a solid foundation in Operations and helping the Group deliver our strategy – in the right way.
